The LTA has issued guidance on safe play during lockdown, but please take full heed of the following notes designed to meet the particular circumstances of the club:

  • Do not come to the courts unless you have a confirmed booking. The booking should be in the name of the person using the court and must include the names of all participants, noting whether they are members or guests.

  • There is no restriction on the number of people on court or in the grounds, but normal social distancing guidelines for outdoor activity should be observed.

  • Give the people playing before you plenty of time and space to leave the court.

  • Stay at least two meters away from other players at all times and avoid physical contact such as handshakes.  Avoid changing ends, or change at opposite sides of the net.

  • Take only the minimum equipment you need and do not share equipment.

  • Play only with your own tennis balls, which should ideally be clearly marked.  Avoid picking up balls that are not yours - use your racquet or foot to return them.

  • Please wash your hands thoroughly before leaving home and as soon as possible after leaving the courts.  Ideally bring hand sanitiser with you and use as appropriate.

  • Avoid touching the entrance gate and court gates if possible.  The padlocks are being removed for the time being so that the gates can be opened with the minimum of contact.  The nets will be set at the correct height and should be left as they are.  The net winders have been removed.

  • Pease take any rubbish home with you for disposal.

In general, please pay strict attention to social distancing guidelines at all times while at the club - and, of course, do not come to the courts if you (or a member of your household) are symptomatic, self-isolating or shielding.

Do not come to WCTC:

  • If you have any symptoms of Covid-19.

  • If you have been in contact with anyone suffering from Covid-19 in the last 14 days.

  • If you are self-isolating for any reason.

Before leaving for the courts:

  • Wash your hands

  • Maintain social distancing.

  • Socialising before and after play, and generally within the grounds, is limited to a maximum of four people from two households; there is however no restriction on the number of children aged 11 and under, and the household limit does not apply to those aged under 18.

  • Allow others to leave before you enter the court - if you need to wait then do so away from the courts and clear of the gates.

On the court:

  • Those over 12yrs must physically distance before & after tennis but do not have to during tennis.

  • Please bring your own racquet - do not share racquets.

  • Clean hands with sanitiser (available at courts) before entering the courts.

  • Pay careful attention to any special instructions of the coach.

  • Do not touch your face after touching the tennis balls.

  • Bring a full water bottle, and do not share food or drink with others.

  • Ensure you take all belongings with you at the end of the session and don’t leave anything on court.
